Woodland log cabins and yurts on the edge of Ashdown Forest
Hidden in six acres of ancient Sussex woodland, just outside East Grinstead and on the edge of Ashdown Forest, are four hand-built log cabins and two yurts, each set around 50 metres apart, so all you'll hear is birdsong and the crackle of your own fire.
Every cabin and yurt has a woodburner, cosy furnishings and an outdoor firepit for cooking under the stars. The log cabins (Idaho, Jacaranda, Orinoco and Anderida) sleep up to four people, each with its own character, from frontier-style Western Red Cedar to a woodsman's cottage full of antiques. Our two forest yurts are Savannah, built from wood coppiced here on site, which sleeps four people, and Kushti, a traditional Mongolian yurt for two.
This is simple, unhurried glamping. Hot power showers and loos are shared, and a short woodland stroll from your door beside the Forest Garden Café, where breakfast is made with produce from our seven-layer forest garden. Add a session in the cedar sauna, try a woodland craft course, or simply walk out into Ashdown Forest.

Forest Garden Shovelstrode is 2.5 miles from East Grinstead and Forest Row. If you’re travelling by train, East Grinstead is the nearest station, followed by around a 10-minute taxi ride to us.
