Introduction to Vegetable Gardening
Sat 25 April 2020
Within the gardeners calendar year, theres a special moment when you taste the first ripe tomato of the season or pick the fresh purple spikes of spring broccoli. During this 3 hour course, focused on the Veggie Patch, you will learn how to make the most of your patch, be it big or small.
This course will take you on a journey from plot to plate, to show you how to plan and prepare your site, how to care and nurture your plants and some tips on what do with the harvest. You will learn the basics such as soil management, sowing and planting, watering, feeding and pest control.
This course will be run by Lisa Hooper who has been a passionate horticulturist for many years. She believes that there is no greater pleasure than feeding your family with the fruits of your labour and that nothing tastes better than homegrown.
The day will start at 0930 and finish around 12.30 with a coffee/tea break in between.
Wear appropriate clothes for all weathers! A note pad is useful and do bring along any favourite gloves or secateurs.
