The Gotwick Horse Drawn Carriage company are offering a truly magical experience with carriage rides starting at Forest Garden Shovelstrode. You will be taken by carriage through to a private estate through an ancient woodland. There are various other options as listed below :-

Purpose built carriage tracks through farm and woodland lead to pretty, enchanted lakes. Time to stop and rest amongst the wildlife and leafy glades to take in the peace whilst enjoying a bottle of English Sparkling wine from the award-winning local vineyard Kingscote Estate or similar

Hands on the reins experience

A fun, interactive hands-on experience suitable for anyone who would like to spend time with our gentle Carriage horses.

Learn the basics about harness and rein handling on our mechanical rein board before putting your skills into practise ‘ on the ground’ as you walk and guide your working horse pulling a small log on our timber snigging course.

Have a go at ‘harnessing up’ and ‘putting to’ as you get ready to take our two wheel training carriage around a fun obstacle course to try your hand at carriage driving and put into practise all you have learned.

This is a field based, supervised experience and does not require previous carriage driving, riding or experience with horses

Carriage driving tuition

We can provide carriage driving tuition with single and pairs. Lessons will be tailored to individual experience and needs.

Single horse : one hour £95 – each additional half hour is £45

Pair horses: one hour £130 – each additional half hour is £45

Discounts apply for a series of regular lessons

This experience requires participants to have completed the ‘Hands on the reins Experience’ with us.
