The plan for Forest Garden Shovelstrode is to create an example Forest Garden as a resource for people who wish to learn about a more sustainable and self sufficient lifestyle. It will also provide an ideal setting to teach a range of traditional woodland crafts.
The existing ancient woodland will be maintained and enhanced and a wildlife pond will be constructed in order to help increase biodiversity.
In 2010 the main structure of the Forest Garden will be laid out with fruit bearing trees, hedgerows and shelter belt. Facilities will be constructed including WC/Shower, kitchen and a small shop will be created in the existing stables and old generator house.
By spring 2011 the main structure will be ready for our courses and workshops.
